Why did they flop?

Why did they flop?

Is it just me or was anyone else gutted when dreamcast well and truely crashed out of the gaming market: personally I was gutted. Why did all those inpatient fools wait until the ps2 came out without giving the mighty dreamcast a chance?

Marketing campaign was a bit of a dud, it had good initial sales but the ps2 just came in and romped the competition. Plus people didn't trust Sega after crap like the Sega Saturn. I don't think they should have halted production though, it wasn't doing that bad and it was a pretty awesome console.

Yeah, it continued to prove popular in Japan long after western markets ditched it. I personally thought it was a great console.. it just suffered from a lack of decent exclusive titles.

No thats the opposite of what happened gus, japan were the first to drop it when ps2 was coming out, and it had the most success in the US. It was just all about brand name dominance, people favoured Sony way more over Sega which is understandable if you look at the generation before that, Sega Saturn vs N64 vs Playstation, there was no question which one sucked the most.
